When "National Treasure" is the better movie

What can I say, I was really bored with this movie. There was some aspect of the previous two films in this franchise that I liked. But this had almost nothing going for it, despite the trippy imagery. It just lacked the substance, and clever depth that the previous two films had. This one just appeared like they made it just for the sake of turning the book into a movie. Everything seemed so generic, narrow and boring. This time around it's the same old same old with the character Robert Langdon is once again played by Tom Hanks. This time around another female accommodates him, she is a doctor this time around. While Robert Langdon deals with a cliché case of amnesia. They just seemed like they were on vacation most of the time, instead of it having a rushing, thrilling feel to it. It seemed like the duo was running around solving boring puzzles just for the fun of it. The main leads are once again on the run and a lot of chase scenes ensues which quickly gets boring. With the hitwoman and the feds constantly after them. That is what sums up this movie with the leads just running around, getting chased solving boring puzzles for about an hour and a half way through. Then the last 30 minutes follows the generic pattern, that you as a viewer have seen way too many times in previous other movies. With the good guys trying to dismantle something that is about to go off. I will just say to go rewatch "Kingsman: The Secret Service" again. Sure it doesn't take itself seriously as much as this but at least it's way more entertaining.

Dazzled and confused

If you manage to watch this through without your brain going "come on", then congratulations. Because if you think about it (not), then this is just a popcorn movie. Something you watch for the ride and the tension rising and just going with the pace and not question things that are happening.

But if by any chance your brain comes to life and tells you: that's just ... bad, let's call it bad, then you should not be too surprised. Tom Hanks has the charisma to carry this though and any change in direction and flip flop that may occur will not deter him. Which brings us to a final set up that is so cringe worthy you probably will lose your teeth over it - not in a good way

never really cared

Professor Robert Langdon (Tom Hanks) wakes up in a Florence hospital with partial amnesia, nightmarish visions, and a gunshot head wound. Dr. Sienna Brooks (Felicity Jones) helps him escape an assassin. They find clues leading to the suicide of American billionaire radical scientist Bertrand Zobrist (Ben Foster). Zobrist was obsessed with over-population and created a virus called Inferno.

I think I have solved the Da Vinci Code problem. Ron Howard needs to stop trying to pair Hanks up with the latest ingenue it girl. The age difference doesn't work especially for Hanks. He has never struck me as that kind of guy. He should be paired with somebody older. I'm not saying it should be Meg Ryan. There has to be a happy medium or drop the romance pretense all together. None of them stick around anyways.

This episode is basically one chase after another with exposition setups in between. Apparently, they're taking inspiration from Bourne or Bond. It alternates between frantic and boring. The simple construction seems to be a way to ignore any problematic logic. For example, the mask must have been stolen days ago but they only look at the surveillance video when Langdon returns. It kinda make more sense with the twist but it still wouldn't make sense for Langdon. I never got invested in the premise and it never got compelling. There continues to be a lack of chemistry between Hanks and his leading ladies. I do have to give credit for the pretty good twist but it's not enough to save what is essentially a flat story.
