Entertaining, but not nearly as good as Infinity War

******SPOILER ALERT******

I have been eagerly waiting for this movie since the end of IW a year ago. For the most part, I was suitably entertained; however, I could not ignore the glaring plotholes throughout the movie - especially because time-traveling was involved. These are my biggest quibbles, and I will likely have more when I see it again this Sunday:

1) The mass "vanishing" was completely glossed over. You would think that half of Earth's population suddenly disappearing would cause massive chaos, especially considering that heads of states and other government officials were probably snapped out of existence as well. Other than the memorials of the vanished and mounds of garbage in one neighborhood (nobody bothered to clean it up in five years?), you really don't get a complete sense of the state of world post-snap.

2) Remember "The Butterfly Affect"? One thing changes everything? How did the theft of the Infinity Stones during multiple time periods NOT completely screw up the current timeline (which was likely set around the year 2021 or 2022)? Not only that, Loki escaped with the Tesseract in 2012. Thor stole Mjolnir from his 2013 counterpart in Asgard. Those two events should have also led to major reprecussions to the current timeline, but nope.

3) Bruce snapping everyone BACK into existence was also glossed over. Other than the vanished heroes making a dramatic appearance in the final battle, none of the implications of the sudden reappearance of billions of people were addressed. For example, what happened to the "vanished" people who happened to be flying in an airplane at the time of their disappearance? Did they reappear in the air - only to plummet thousands of feet to their deaths?

4) Steve Rogers staying in the past to marry his old flame should have changed EVERYTHING. I'll leave it at that.

5) How is current day Nebula still alive after killing her 2014 counterpart? And is 2014 Gamora now stuck in the current timeline?

6) How was 2014 Nebula able to get Thanos' ship and his ENTIRE ARMY through the Quantum Realm?

7) And where did Valkyrie get her winged horse?!

Other quibbles: The movie was WAY too long and completely dragged for about a good hour or so. Captain Marvel was primarily used as a deus ex machina. Space is BIG - how the heck did she find Tony Stark and Nebula drifting through space? She went missing for a good couple hours (although she stayed around long enough for Rocket to make a wisecrack about her hair), and showed up in the big battle at the last second to blow stuff up and throw a couple good punches at Thanos. Speaking of Thanos, should he have been much weaker without the Infinity Stones? Somehow, he was able to go toe-to-toe with both Thor and Captain Marvel; both who should have been able to mop the floor with him by themselves.

Overall, it is a good comic book movie, but definitely not the best MCU movie. That honor still belongs to Infinity War, with Thor: Ragnorak being a close second.

Success does not equal quality

The soon-to-be most successful movie of all times actually ranks fairly low among its companions. I'd say it is about as good as Winter Soldier. As a fan of the pevious films, expecially Infinity War, I couldn't miss this one. I think that goes for most movie-goers. After Infinity War, we HAD to see how it ends. Infinity War was an almost perfect movie. And now we get less than perfect. Now, we get "good" or "very good" and in comparison it seems almost bad. My issue is not how the film is made. But with the story they chose to tell: 1. Thanos can't be the stronger villain without his gauntlet. That's poor writing. 2. Captain Marvel and Captain America are NOT equally strong (when fighting Thanos). 3. Stormbreaker was this amazing weapon in Infinity War. It beat Thanos with all stones in his gauntlet. Now it's just as steong as the hammer. 4. Thor has just found his purpose and strength in Ragnarok and Infinity War. Now he is a joke. 5. The time travel is, well, how itz always is. Hardly logical. Those are the issues that now trouble me after having seen it two days ago. It just wasn't as good as Infinity War. They missed their mark.

Emotional but bit messy.

So it all ends. I have loved most of the MCU, some have been too predictable but I awaited after IW to see how it would all pan out. Firstly some of my favourite characters are a joke. Please don't dumb Thor or Banner/Hulk down, not necessary. Great starting scene, then slow dramatic next 1.5 hours. It builds to the time travel reversing all section with too many plot holes. We've all seen other time reversing movies who have done it so much better. The last hour is spectacular, great to see all the gang back but it feels rushed. Emotion runs high and defo not a kids film in my eyes. Cap is great Stark is amazing but everyone else feels like there just there. What I loved was the beauty of the final scenes, wonderful score and saying goodbye to old friends. Overall wanted more, but even far from perfect is still pretty good.
