Jane (Katherine Heigl) has always been good at taking care of others, but not so much in looking after herself. Her entire life has been about making people happy -- and she has a closet full of 27 bridesmaid dresses to prove it. One memorable evening, Jane manages to shuttle between wedding receptions in Manhattan and Brooklyn, a feat witnessed by Kevin (James Marsden), a newspaper reporter who realizes that a story about this wedding junkie is his ticket off the newspaper's bridal beat.

Jane finds Kevin's cynicism counter to everything she holds dear -- namely weddings, and the two lock horns. Further complicating Jane's once perfectly-ordered life is the arrival of younger sister Tess (Malin Akerman). Tess immediately captures the heart of Jane's boss, George (Edward Burns). Tess enlists her always-accommodating sister to plan yet another wedding -- Tess and George's -- but Jane's feelings for him lead to shocking revelations... and maybe the beginning of a new life. As a romantic comedy, it does have all the lame cliches that are so cringe worthy you will feel embarrassed even if you watch it alone. Why are weddings that important, in late 2000s rom-coms especially? And the need of all the dresses, really? To be a bridesmaid to so many people, is she like professional one or just stupid? Is it all necessary? Even by the title with ~27~ dresses you already know this one will be bad. Not to mention the plot summary... I just had to watch this nonsense expecting it to be like a parody worth at least 2 stars or something, but no.

Lacking common sense and intelligent writing, some people will find this movie entertaining, even good. So don't be discouraged!

Acting is bad, script is bad, jokes are bad... Avoid it, or turn it on if you want your partner to say that you should do something else.

I am a guy, so the common supposition is that I hate so-called 'chick flicks'. Well, that certainly isn't true and I bet it isn't true for most guys--provided it's a GOOD chick flick. And, after having seen "27 Dresses", I can certainly say it's a very good film. Sure, it's formulaic in spots--but ALL chick flicks are to a degree. And, if you can accept that, you'll have a great time watching this movie.

Jane (Katherine Heigl) is a very nice lady--perhaps too nice. She can't say no to anyone and has been asked 27 times to be a bridesmaid--and she never refuses. Part of it is because she loves weddings but much of it is that she just can't say no. She is secretly in love with her boss, but he has no idea. All he knows is that she's a great assistant--and she's never let her feelings be known. So, she is quietly desperate--hoping something will eventually happen. However, when her obnoxious and self-centered sister comes to town, things get a lot worse. The sister starts dating Jane's boss--and soon they are talking about marriage! In the meantime, a news reporter, Kevin (James Marsden), meets up with Jane at a wedding. He is very intrigued by her--partly because of her 27 weddings and partly, you must assume, because he's interested in her. But Jane is a thorny lady and keeps her distance. But Kevin is persistent--and you have a very good idea where this is going. However, the trip there is a bit bumpy--hold on--it's worth the wait.

The film works very well. Part of it is because there are some humorous moments and part because the romance works well. You WILL most likely get choked up--so be sure to have some Kleenex handy. Well acted and enjoyable throughout--this is one sweet and enjoyable film.
